Invitations

I am getting a bit excited. We are almost finish with the invitations. The only problem I am encountering is writing out the addresses. My handwriting sucks. Just ask any of my friends. Vin's handwriting is too small that you need a magnifying glass to read it. So I had enlisted my dad to write some of the addresses out. Unfortunately, he is now in the Philippines for a couple more weeks and there are still some addresses to fill out. So, for those unfortunate few that I had written, please excuse my handwriting. I tried to make it all beautifully scripted and printed but handwriting is not my forte. I even tried to copy my dad's handwriting but I kept falling into my style of writing. It is became a very frustrating process, believe me. Many envelopes became a victim of my rage and frustration.

I would think we would have all the addresses by now but there has been a lot of movement in the last couple of months. It appears a lot of friends and family are moving. Either into another apartment, another house, or possibly another state. So, there have been many envelopes that had to be rewritten due to those changes. Thank God, we got extra envelopes.

Yet, I am very proud of our invites and I can't believe that two months are left. All these expectations are building up. I afraid that the wedding might be anti-climatic or that they will be nothing to look forward to after this. I guess I can blame all these raised expectations on this culture of ours. This society has taught us women to expect so much out of one day. I got to remember that this one day is just one day of many wonderful days and celebrations.

An update

Hello ladies and fellas,

Sorry for the long absence. Right now things are starting to pick up. We finally settled on a place for a rehearsal dinner. I just have to finalize the details with the restaurant but it will be held the night before the wedding. Unfortunately, our priest cannot be there to attend the rehearsal since he works on Friday nights and he stated that he cannot find a replacement. (My priest also is a psychiatrist and he has to work at the State VA hospital on Friday nights). I could chose Thursday night but unfortunately, alot of my relatives won't be able to make it into town. How the rehearsal will be run I won't be able to figure it out but somehow it will get done. I have asked one of our friends, Vanessa Llana, to assist in coordinating the wedding ceremony. Thank God, she has agreed. She might have to be the one to stand in for the priest.

We are putting the finishing touches on the invites. They should be sent out in a week or so. Now I want to work on the thank you cards and programs. I would like to design them myself but we will see if we have time.

Otherwise, it is all the small details that have to be ironed out. I am getting a bit anxious and it is showing in my face. I am breaking out on my face. ( I do have an appointment set up with a dermatologist and I will be scheduling a facial soon.) I am trying to take it one day at a time. All this stress for a measly 12 hours out of an entire lifetime.

the tuxes have been chosen

yes, ladies and gentlemen, i have picked out the tuxes. we're going for a nice, tradional tux, tails and tophat. the walking sticks are optional.

actually, they are three-button tuxes, basic black, full-back vests, and neckties.

i went to after hours for them. i'll be calling all the guys with the exact details in a day or so.

oh, and roehl, remember the beautiful vest you had me wear for yours and paula's wedding? yeah, remember it well my friend.

Oh where, oh where to go for rehearsal dinner?

Hi loyal "countdown to marchdown" readers!!! I know that it has been a long time since the last blog. It has been hectic with work, wedding, and other stuff. I have been doing wedding stuff at work, work stuff at home, and my volunteer stuff at work and home. So, there is no rest for the weary. (well, actually I got a bit sick and had to stay home last Friday but that is another story. So I did get some rest.)

I guess since there is less than 3 months to go, the stress has picked up. Right now the biggest headache is the rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, the guest list is possibly 65 people long. For those who are not familiar with Filipino wedding traditions, there are extra people in the bridal party and they are called sponsors. Basically, they are married individuals, usually a lot older, who act as role models for the newlyweds. In the Filipino culture, the sponsors would look over the couple and would guide them through any marital problems. Well, we have 10 sponsors. On top of that we have 7 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, one ringbearer, one coinbearer, and one flower girl. In addition, we might have to invite out of town relatives. So, the list gets bigger and bigger and bigger.

Yet, the list for appropriate places to have dinner gets smaller and smaller and smaller. We are looking for an Italian restaurant since that suits everyone's taste buds. I have called 20 -25 places in Union and Essex County and either they are too small, too expensive, or they don't do private parties on a Friday night. Vin and I have eaten at two restaurants that fit our budget but Vin wasn't too pleased with the food. So, again the search continues. We are planning to eat at another restaurant this Thursday. I really wasn't expecting this added expense of having sample dinners at these restaurants but at least, we are going out more for dinner than we usually do ; ) Let's hope that this one wins because I will not be able to lose weight for the wedding if we continue.
